backing up to the island

I happened upon a saved document yesterday, a bit about impressions after a week on Isla Taboga, an island off the coast of Panama City.  I had gone with my friend Travis, and for a couple of weeks it was just the two of us waiting for our other two friends to arrive on the ferry.  It was supposed to end up on my blog exactly two years ago, but because of lack of internet on the island it stayed on my hard drive.  It’s a bit heady, but it took me back to some of those…

2009makers

Tell me you forgot that I said I’d post a bunch of lists about the decade and the year and resolutions, etc.  I still may post some of them, but a bunch of lists are not really on the way.  However, what is on the way, in just a few sentences actually, is a list of what made up my 2009.  I’d say it was a significant year, on that marked a lot of change, one that solidified some same-olds, and one that will likely be a turning point for me.  So without further ado, my 2009makers: 1. Now, I suppose, sitting here at the fire, stockings actually hung, feet propped up next to my little sister’s, her reading a book, and me, slightly altering the cliche winter night…

Breifly…

Finally, a post. Things are so much different than I expected on Taboga Island… 1. No internet, phone or address 2. No easy way to get to and from the city (ie… I’m more or less marooned.) 3. I am almost talking-to-wilson crazy at least once a week 4. I found refried beans! 5. Carla and Erin coming here made all the difference in terms of social sanity. 6. I’m going to Costa Rica in a few hours! And more… internet it expensive these days, so I will not be able to post much. I wrote what I think is…
