Remember that gnarly throat picture of last post?  Even though that picture was from last year, I’m that kind of sick again.  Can’t quite kick the cough.  Kelly, who was sick for our entire Turkey trip is still battling her cough as well back in Fort Worth, and this has caused me to contemplate where I might like to be nursing my cold right now.  I’ve come up with my ideals: 1. The incredibly-cold is coming.

In the morning I usually walk to work, a routine activity that has become a more frigid exprience with each passing day.  It is no longer sufficient to wear my knit gloves and stuff those covered hands in my pockets.  They are still cold under all those layers.  I certainly don‘t live in the coldest part of Armenia.  There’s no snow on the ground here yet, just crunchy ice puddles.  But on my walk to work I look up at the surrounding mountains and watch as the white blanket of snow is slowing stretching down the mountainside and into our…

Scary Things

It’s cold here. My toes are freezing, but strangely it’s a feeling that I’m getting used to. It’s funny how much I don’t know about winter. For instance, I thought I had packed winter clothes. But no, I packed Texas winter clothes, clothes that are sufficient for getting me from one air conditioned home to the next. I am so thankful for all of those years of central heating for sure.
